BEFORE AND AFTER FIREPLACE INSTALLATION

Posted December 25th, 2013 by Albaugh Masonry Stone and Tile Inc. and filed in Fireplaces, Limestone, Uncategorized

Before starting this project the owner contacted Albaugh Masonry Stone and Tile Inc.  by referral from the architect.   The architect of this house was Lou DesRosier of DesRosier Architects.  Your architect is a good place to start when looking for qualified trades.  They have probably already had or seen success from a specific trade.  If you are building your dream home or trying to get a detail just right then the right installation company is paramount to make the right design and execution come together.

This project has many things to consider.   You have the fireplace opening, the T.V. opening then the hanging of the mantle and the hearth.  As well you have the thin stone to match the stone on the exterior on both sides  of the fireplace.and interior corners of the room.

This concrete project designed by Michael J. Dul and Associates was made for the employees of this Troy, Michigan firm.  It’s playful design and great space utilization made it a great space to take breaks.  The patio is a mixture of exposed aggregate and plain broom finish concrete.  Then the curbed exposed aggregate planter adds another point of interest.  It is always fun to work on  creative and unique projects like these.  The alignment of the lines and the change in textures show the true craftsman ship of this concrete installation.

Custom Concrete Driveways in Southeast Michigan

When you are looking for a truly custom concrete installation it takes a company with a lot of experience.  The experience is what allows a client to realize a great design.  The experience also makes it possible for the client to enjoy the project for many years because it was installed correctly.  Exposed aggregate concrete is a very attractive form of custom concrete.  It gives the appearance of many pebbles embedded in the gray field of concrete.

The photo below and the bottom photo were designed by Daryl Toby at Aquafina Gardens.  Daryl is a great designer who likes to break boundaries with his concepts.  I like the results of Daryl’s ideas.  The center photo was a design that Scott A. Albaugh came up with for the owner of this home with a lower garage.

Albaugh Masonry Stone and Tile can install any custom concrete project requested.

This brick and stone wall designed by Michael J. Dul and associates is a great combination of two timeless materials.  The brick and stone accentuate each other on this functional retaining wall.  The wall allows the development it sits on to be well utilized while the sculpture wall holds back what would normally be an unusable slope of a grade.  The stepped out stone pillars work well with the soft light of the gas lanterns.  Keep an eye out for the summer photos that will show the trellis alive with the blooms and greenery.

The wall was built by Albaugh Masonry Stone and Tile Inc.  The accents are actually cast stone by Royal Cast.  Patrick Funke was the landscape architect from Michael J. Dul and Associates.

GRANITE DRIVEWAY WITH GRANITE FOUNTAIN IN BLOOMFIELD HILLS

Posted January 19th, 2013 by Albaugh Masonry Stone and Tile Inc. and filed in Fountains, Uncategorized

When you select an extremely elegant and timeless product you want to use an installation company that is up to the challenge.  This granite driveway and fountain was installed by Albaugh Masonry Stone and Tile Inc.  The granite came from Genesee Cut Stone and Marble Co.  These stones were 4″ thick and required a lot of care to fit them in place correctly.  A project like this is very important to get right as it has to function as well as look beautiful.  If it is not engineered correctly it will hold water and eventually lead to failures that are very frustrating for an owner who has a lot of money invested in some very expensive material.

Extremely Ornate Fireplace in Ann Arbor, Michigan

Posted January 14th, 2013 by Albaugh Masonry Stone and Tile Inc. and filed in Fireplaces, Masonry Services, Stone, Uncategorized

This stately Fireplace is the focal point of a large living room.  Albaugh Masonry Stone and Tile Inc. installed this cast stone fireplace in the Ann Arbor area.  It took a large  group  to lift all the pieces in place by hand.  The fine detail on the fire place adds a lot to the room and the rest of the fine craftsmanship around the home.  The pieces were so large that it required us to  install wire back to the substrate to hold all the stone in place.  The end result is a very ornate feature.

This project that was recently completed in Birmingham, Michigan was designed by Michael J. Dul and Associates.  Our long lasting relationship with this designer gives us the flexibility to expand each others creativity.  The award winning design firm allowed us to introduce the bluestone at the wall and firepit.  This was a great fit as it complements the patio and step treads.   The patio is comprised of 24″ x 36″ pieces of full range color natural cleft bluestone.  The wall is built using irregular bluestone laid with the natural split edge out.  This adds a tremendous amount of interest to the project.  The treads were 2″ thick thermal select bluestone.

The owner was thrilled with the product as well as the schedule as it was completed in about two weeks time.
