Staying At Home Made Easy With Inviting Features

The homeowner”s family at this home was getting older and had children of their own.  Therefore the grandparents were ambitious to create an environment that was inviting for the grandchildren to come and spend time at their home.   The pool was already in place but needed updating.  Micheal J. Dul and Associates came in and created a plan that used the original pool in its location and created this firepit area as well when designing the entirely new landscape.   A very ornate retaining wall serves a functional purpose as it holds back a considerable grade change coming around the side to the pool.  The design for the retaining wall came from a detail that is on the chimneys on the house.  Combining those kinds of details with the landscape adds a lot of synergy to the design.

Albaugh Masonry Stone and Tile Inc. was responsible for the installation of all these features.  Including the concrete foundations, poured wall for the retaining wall then brick and stone installations.  We also were involved in the restoration of the swimming pool by replacing the coping with the new limestone.  Then we also provided the new tile around the top and at the swim lanes.

The owners were thrilled and continue to have us come and make special adjustments when they need them.

This stone and limestone entrance in Rochester Hills Michigan was designed by AZD with general contractor TSA both in Birmingham Michigan.  Albaugh Masonry Stone and Tile Inc. was hired to install all brick and stone on this project veneer.  Later we were asked to install all the bluestone in the the front entrance then the limestone around the pool in the back.  We also install two very complex fireplaces inside as well.  We still maintain a great relationship with the owner and have even worked at his commercial building for him.

This brick and stone wall designed by Michael J. Dul and associates is a great combination of two timeless materials.  The brick and stone accentuate each other on this functional retaining wall.  The wall allows the development it sits on to be well utilized while the sculpture wall holds back what would normally be an unusable slope of a grade.  The stepped out stone pillars work well with the soft light of the gas lanterns.  Keep an eye out for the summer photos that will show the trellis alive with the blooms and greenery.

The wall was built by Albaugh Masonry Stone and Tile Inc.  The accents are actually cast stone by Royal Cast.  Patrick Funke was the landscape architect from Michael J. Dul and Associates.

Oakland University Steven Sharf Clubhouse

Oakland University gets a new club house for the golf course.   This new clubhouse restaurant is part of a new site development and grounds improvement.

Albaugh Masonry Stone and Tile Inc. is currently matching the brick on the Meadowbrook mansion with this vintage style building.  It takes more than skill alone to get projects like this moving.   A company needs to take the lead sort out details and keep it moving or it will not be done in time for its June 1st 2012 opening.
Greg Albaugh ran the project from the field.  With a few site piers and some elevator block left to go they will not be waiting on us.
A new photo of the completed club house is added to this post.  The club house was used throughout the summer of 2012 and everyone was thrilled with the addition to the beautiful Oakland University Campus.

No matter how good they can make siding it will just never compare to brick and stone.  This window is part of a large stone and brick project that is not short on these wonderful masonry details.  The house was designed by Mark Johnson and the general contractor was Nucore construction.  Albaugh Masonry Stone and Tile carefully followed the plan to execute these kinds of details throughout.

Outdoor Fireplace with Long Lasting Charm

This outdoor fireplace was created by Scott and Greg Albaugh.   The inspiration was the cozy walled in court yard that needed something.  The owner was open minded yet wanted it to be very attractive when looking at it from the inside.  Notice the herringbone pattern in the firebox and the inset in the brick.  Those are all details that read huge in looking at this fireplace.  The hearth is nice and wide to allow more people to gather around the heat source.   The fireplace was drawn by Scott Albaugh.  Tom Chaney and Noel Ginter also added a lot to this project.

Brick and Stone Sign Make a Solid Statement

Brick Wall With Limestone Sign Face and Cap

When a company wants to make a bold statement in front of its building the best products are those that are a constant reminder of strength and integrity.  Nothing makes that statement better than brick and stone .  This sign on Northwestern highway is a great example of just that.  It matches the building nicely for being built long after the original brick was discontinued.

This sign was designed by John Lyndsay Mayer Landscape Architect.  It was built by Albaugh Masonry Stone and Tile Inc.  The permit was acquired , the footing was dug and pour, the brick was laid and the stone was installed all by Albaugh Masonry.  This is the kind of sign that will be there for many years to come.

Bringing It All Together

It is so important to get everyone to work to one goal of completing a project.  If there is no communication or coordinating of the efforts everyone will selfishly attempt to get there work done without caring how the whole project looks at the end.  That is why having an experienced team of professionals can make all the difference in the world.

When every one cares about what the end result is than you can be assured it will be much better than when the opposite takes place.  Take the time to really look at the success of a contractor with other trades before hiring the low number who cannot come up with one single reference.  That is what it takes to “Bring it all Together”.

This project was designed by Dominick Tringali.  The general contractor was Kellett Construction.  The mason contractor was Albaugh Masonry Stone and Tile Inc.

A Brick Sculpture Wall in Ann Arbor MI

This wall was designed by Michael J. Dul and Associate.  It was designed and built to retain the change in elevations at the pool area of this project.  However with the  insets and bands that were installed with the colored mortar this wall looks like a piece of art complementing the landscape and pool.

The wall is supported by a poured wall with a very large spread footing.  This is a great example of a great design and installation coming together.
